During a Gaming Insiders event that took place last week in San Francisco, Yacht Club Games revealed the platform breakdown for sales of its first game, Shovel Knight. According to the studio, exactly half of all copies of Shovel Knight were sold on a Nintendo platform, with 30% of sales coming from the 3DS and 20% of sales coming from the Wii U. The Steam version of the game sold the most, coming in at 32%. Sony platforms saw 14% of total sales, whereas the Xbox saw a meager 4% of the game’s sales.
It is nice to see a timed console-exclusive perform so well on Nintendo platforms. Hopefully this leads to more indie involvement Nintendo platforms in the future!
