Disclaimer: First things first, this is just a rumor! Please take whatever you read in this post with a massive lump of salt, as it may very well not be true.
Some inside sources at Gamestop are claiming that several locations have found a way to combat the recent Amiibo shortages. Instead of waiting for a shipment to arrive directly from Nintendo, these sources are claiming that some Gamestop locations are sending out employees early in the morning in order to pick up any rare Amiibo from the shelves of competitors.
Some of our readers may be wondering, how is this even profitable" Although there is not direct profit made off of the sale of these Amiibo, building up a reputation of selling rarer Amiibo figurines ensures that people come back to the location to check for more. This would increase traffic, and possibly sales.
Currently, the source is not sure whether this is a company-wide strategy, or whether it is only being used by a select few locations.
