Today, Sega announced a large amount of news concerning its corporate restructure in both America and Japan. In America, the Sega branch will re-locate from San Francisco to a location in Southern California. Sega of America president and COO John Cheng claimed that this restructure was “crucial” to keep Sega of America moving forward and would allow Sega to do a better job producing gaming, TV, and merchandizing content. SoA did mention, however, that several positions will be removed from the American branch in order to “streamline” content creation.
In Japan, at least 300 employees are being offered temporary retirement in order to downsize operations and make a transition to mobile development. The Japanese branch of Sega will not re-locate as the US branch will.
As always, we at Nintendo Enthusiast send our best wishes to all those effected by the corporate re-structuring.
