Amazon has announced that the 2016 holiday period was their best-ever season, and the three best-selling video games through Amazon.com were Pokémon Sun, Pokémon Moon, and Final Fantasy XV for PlayStation 4. They didn’t specify the dates for the holiday period, but most of November and December are good bets.
Amazon also didn’t give out sales numbers for the top three, but they did say, “If each Amazon.com customer who purchased Pokémon Sun and Moon this holiday spent at least an hour a day playing the game since its release, our customers would have spent the equivalent of more than 24 thousand lunar cycles capturing Pokémon.”
Final Fantasy XV is currently on sale for $39 on Amazon.com for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
We’ll have full details on Amazon’s best-selling video games for all of 2016 next week, but at the moment, Pokémon Sun and Moon are in 1st and 2nd, with the PS4 version of Final Fantasy XV in 3rd, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in 4th, and the Xbox One version of Madden NFL 17 in 5th.
In 2015, Amazon’s top three best-selling holiday games were Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Fallout 4, and Star Wars Battlefront.
